Hello! Here you can get info about wedding music. I find this info at articlealley.com with written by FridayStreetMusic. Let’s go to the topic: Choosing your wedding music can make or break your event. This is a tough job, and is usually best left to a music agency, or a band that has done hundreds if not thousands of events. Sure, you’ll want some input about what style of music you like, the age group of who’s coming. Most bands don’t mind learning a few of your favorite tunes, but generally they are excellent at picking the most appropriate music for your day. A great band will ensure that everyone has a good time, even with the hardest to work crowds!
People choose all sorts of acts from Contemporary Party Bands, Ceilidh Bands, 70’s & 80’s Music, Tribute Bands, Jazz Bands and Rock’n’Roll Bands. This is usually followed by a DJ for all the hardcore drinkers that are still up until the early hours!
The 1st dance HAS to mean something personal – but the rest of the entertainment has to be accessible and liked by people of all ages, and of all tastes.
Here’s my top 10 wedding songs for your first dance
1. Percy Sledge – When a man loves a woman
2. Bryan Adams - Everything I Do (I Do It For You)
3. Righteous Brothers – Unchained Melody
4. Shania Twain - You’re Still The One
5. Van Morrison - Have I Told You Lately
6. James Blunt - You’re Beautiful
7. Billy Paul – Mrs Jones (especially if you’re becoming a Mrs Jones!)
8. Robbie Williams - Angels
9. Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
10. Chrisitna Aguilera – Beautiful
Reception Music
I am a big fan of reception music, and being a saxophone player I’ve done quite a few. The champagne reception is usually, when everyone arrives after the wedding, and is the 1st real ‘social’ event of the reception. There are usually a lot of strangers at a wedding, and having some unobtrusive, background music helps everyone relax, avoids awkward silences and also gives a bit of a conversation matter to people that are unfamiliar with each other.
Saxophone players, Piano Players, String Quartets are all perfect for the reception music, and provide atmosphere without being overpowering.
The Wedding Meal
Middle of the road, middle of the road and more middle of the road! – it may sound a bit dull, but you don’t want anything too loud during the meal. Whether it is jazz, pop, soul, or rock – keep it pleasant on the ear.
Remember, people will be wanting to talk – and music will be secondary . . . . . not too loud either.
Alternatively, many people opt for a piano player who can provide some light background music – I would also advise this option (depending on budget constraints) as nothing beats the atmosphere of LIVE music.
Important points to remember
• Choose the appropriate music for the time of the day, and for the people that are attending. If most of the people are coming are over 50, they’re probably not going to be into Garage and House music.
• TRUST the bands or music agency – they’re used to doing these kind of events, and know what works and what doesn’t
• Reception music plays a big part in how the rest of the day and evening will unfold.
• Don’t just play the music YOU are into
• Go and check a few of the bands out, if they’re any good – they’ll have lots of gigs and you’ll be able to reassure yourself
